Five Reasons Why Sony Should Still Release 'The Interview' Online

No theaters, no problem for this Seth Rogen and James Franco flick

While many people were expecting The Interview to be the goofball stoner comedy of the holiday season, it's turned into a headache for film executives as they struggle to stem the flow of hacked Sony information and terrorist threats against those who support the movie. Now, Buzzfeed Entertainment reports the film empire is pulling the movie from its scheduled Dec. 25 theatrical release due to terrorist threats. Sony could not immediately be reached for comment.

In late November, a hacker collective calling itself the Guardians of Peace began releasing private Sony documents and promised to wreak more havoc unless distributor Sony Pictures Entertainment complied with its demands,

But on Monday, Nike took it to the next level, suing three former designers who had left the company, alleging they used Nike's trade secrets to sell themselves to Adidas.

NBC's Peter Pan Didn't Even Come Close to The Sound of Music

A 2.3 in the demo isn't bad, but it still loses the night

Though what seemed like all of Twitter live-hated NBC's broadcast of the Peter Pan stage play, starring Allison Williams and Christopher Walken, it was still better than a typical Tuesday over at NBC, where the network hauled in some 2.9 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 demo (for a 2.3 rating) and 9 million watchers total.

It didn't come anywhere close to the network's production of The Sound of Music last year, though (which logged a 4.6 and 18.5 million viewers total); nor did it beat out CBS's sitcoms Mom and Two and a Half Men,

Victoria's Secret Shows There's Something About Airplanes and Social Media

20 lingerie models don't hurt, either

KLM Royal Dutch's in-flight dance party a few years ago provided an early hint that airlines could soar with cool social media campaigns. Then in 2012, Air New Zealand's #airnzhobbit effort generated 25 million views with two YouTube videos, making the entire hospitality niche take notice while

inspiring
plenty of other examples.

The strange combination of boredom and anxiety that comes with air travel just seems to lend itself to social video, as viewers sit in their homes or offices and click on often-humorous spots. Put two dozen Victoria's Secret models 30,000 feet in the air in an Instagram clip—and watch out, folks.

Why America Needs an Exit Tax

President Obama’s executive action on immigration will end the threat of deportation for as many as 3.7 million parents of American citizens, while also protecting about 350,000 immigrants who came to the U.S. as children. It’s being sold as a stopgap measure until Congress passes a comprehensive immigration act. If Congress does finally address immigration (and it’s a big if), it could use the opportunity to make emigration more equitable, as well—and raise some revenue at the same time.

Nike Doesn’t Sell U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Jerseys to Men

Women’s soccer jersey (left) and men’s soccer jersey
Women’s soccer jersey (left) and men’s soccer jersey

When a national soccer team wins a FIFA World Cup, it marks the accomplishment by embroidering a small star onto its uniforms—the sporting equivalent of Dr. Seuss’s Sneetches on Beaches. After Germany’s men’s team won in Brazil this summer, its fourth World Cup victory, Adidas (ADS:GR) couldn’t keep up with demand for the team’s new four-star jerseys.
In the U.S., the men’s national team has zero stars; the women’s team has two. Nike (NKE) sells replica jerseys for both, and their design, other than the stars, is the same. Nike doesn’t, however, sell the two-starred jerseys in men’s sizes.

Facebook Turns Away From NewFronts Over Lack of Original Content

Social network was removed from schedule

UPDATE: Facebook has been removed from the 2015 NewFronts schedule because the company didn't plan to present original content.
The tentative 2015 NewFronts lineup obtained by Adweek on Wednesday afternoon showed Facebook was slated to present between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., April 30. Facebook said that it decided before the slate was officially released on Thursday morning that it was not going to participate.

"We had initial talks with the IAB about participating in the NewFronts, and as we got closer to the schedule being confirmed, we had more in-depth conversations about the goals of the NewFronts and IAB's vision for the event," a Facebook rep said via email.

We Now Spend More Time Staring at Phones Than TVs

People with access to a smartphone or tablet now spend an average of 2 hours and 57 minutes on them each day, says digital analytics firm Flurry, putting phones ahead of televisions as time-sucks.

At the same time, the job market is still tighter than it used to be; even before the recession, turnover was dropping. And that raises the stakes, particularly for people starting their careers

Unplanned sex does wonders to love life

Don't let monotony creep into your relationship — there are plenty of things you can do to spice things up.
Unplanned sex does wonders to love life
Ditch the 'I have a headache', 'The kids have tired me out today' or 'I'm too busy' excuses and win your partner over inside as well as outside the bedroom. We list out some simple ideas...

- It is easy to get stuck in a mundane routine. Experts suggest you keep aside date nights exclusively for yourself and your partner. Why should marriage stop you from having fun just by yourselves? Be spontaneous and do things that you used to do as a couple but haven't since a while.
 - Planned sex needn't be boring. Get busy in places around the house which you haven't explored before. Many couples say that they're usually so tired that when they enter the bedroom, all they can think about is sleep.

Amazon to sell packaged food and beverages in India - Economic Times

A just-delivered Amazon box is seen on a counter in Golden, Colorado August 27, 2014. REUTERS/Rick Wilking/Files

Online retailer Amazon.com Inc plans to sell packaged food and beverages in India from mid-October, the Economic Times reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Amazon, which has already started accepting bookings for Coco-Cola Zero - the beverage's low-calorie variant, will eventually start selling fresh food in India, the ET said.
 (bit.ly/1BAIAtJ)

Amazon is already in talks with brands like Kelloggs and Cornitos, the paper said.
Amazon India did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Amazon, which opened its Indian website last June, has drawn up the battle lines by slashing prices, launching same-day delivery, adding new product categories and embarking on a high-voltage advertisement campaign.

In July, Amazon said it will invest a further $2 billion in India after the country's largest e-tailer Flipkart attracted $1 billion of fresh funds, raising the stakes in a nascent but fast-growing e-commerce sector. - (Reuters)

APPLE’S ANNOUNCEMENT RUINED: This is the first video of a real iPhone 6

By Jonathan S. Geller

iPhone 6 review pictures and video from Apple's event
Apple’s event this coming Tuesday hasn’t been much of a surprise for industry-watchers. However, it appears that a working iPhone 6 has made its way into the hands of an Apple fan who has started posting pictures and videos of the device on a Chinese site. The phone and software don’t seem to be edited in any way and this very much is the real deal.
We can see a new Passbook icon which features a magnetic credit card at the top, assumingly for the fact you are now going to be able to pay using your iOS devices everywhere you go. Let’s hope there is still a surprise come Tuesday, though I personally think this is going to be the biggest and most important Apple event in a long time. You can view the video here.
